Canterbury Festival LogoCanterbury Christ Church University is gearing up for a fortnight of inspiring events, between 15 and 29 October, as part of the Canterbury Festival.

As Partner and Principal Sponsor for the second year running, the University will hold several events across the festival programme, including a special Canterbury Christ Church Festival Concert on Friday 21 October at Augustine Hall with performances by Albanian violinist, Alda Dizdari.

The University will also hold a series of free lunchtime concerts at The St Gregory’s Centre for Music from Monday 19 October. Inspired performances in the programme include, Bach Sonatas and Schubert’s F Minor Fantasie, to the original two-piano version of La Valse by Ravel, as well as pieces by the Richard Rozze Duo, The Angel Elwin Duo and Deux Reflets/Twice Reflected, plus many more.

Rosie Turner, Festival Director, said: “The award-winning cultural partnership between the University and the Festival infuses this year’s programme.  There are free lunchtime concerts everyday at St Gregory’s by students and staff, and lots of others are volunteers helping out either in the office during the run-up to October or at Festival venues each evening.

“The Sidney Cooper Gallery offers an important annual festival exhibition and behind the scenes both organisations work closely together to promote the importance and enjoyment of culture and the arts year round in Kent.”
