There has been some reports of suspicious people knocking on doors of houses around the Canterbury campus (college, st martins etc.) trying to find out if there are students living there. The police have been notified. But, if you are leaving Canterbury for the holidays, please inform your landlords of this and make sure you lock everything securely or take valuable belongings with you. If you live next door to local residents maybe take round a bottle of mulled wine and ask them to keep a lookout for you!
