As of 9am on Monday 27th February the Students’ Union elections officially opened and all registered students at CCCU have the chance to have their say and vote on who they want to run their SU. Voting is open until 5pm on Friday 2nd March so please try and vote as soon as possible.

How to Vote

To vote all you need to do is log in to StudentNet and then scroll down and click the “Student Union Elections – Vote Here” link. This will securely log you into our elections site and you will see a list of all the positions you can vote for. Click on a position and then using the dropdown numbers put a ’1′ next to your favourite candidate and then you can also put a ’2′, ’3′ etc next to your next favourite candidate for that position if you want.

Once you’ve done that click ‘Submit Vote’. You can then go and vote for the other positions.

Who are the candidates?

On the voting site there are links to the candidates manifestos (if they submitted them by the deadline) so you can see what they have to say or you can download the manifesto booklet and read the manifestos all in one go.

Who is RON?

Ron stands for Re-Open Nomination and is there so that you always have a choice of candidates, and if you don’t think any of the candidates are suitable or won’t do a good job then you can vote for RON and still have your say. If RON wins the election for that position then nominations will open again and we will have to hold a by-election.

When is the deadline?

Voting automatically closes at 5pm on Friday 2nd March so don’t miss out!

Why is voting online this year?

This year sees us switch over from the traditional paper ballot voting system and over to electronic voting with aim that this will allow more students than ever to have their say and cast their vote. In the past not everyone has been able to come onto campus and physically complete their ballot form and not everyone has had the time to send off a postal ballot, so we hope that this system will allow everyone a fair chance to vote so we will have a more democratic election process.
