The Students’ Union co-ordinates a wide range of sports teams and activities and offers an extensive programme of sport and recreational opportunities at every sporting level for all members of the University.
The Sports Federation has one of the biggest membership bases in the Union and offers anything from your traditional sports, such as Rugby, Football, Hockey and Netball to less traditional alternatives such as American Football, and is always open to starting up new clubs.
The majority of the clubs compete in BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) on Wednesday afternoons either at home, or travelling away to other Universities.
One of the greatest things about being involved with Sports is the social aspect that comes with being part of a team, and every Wednesday night, the Student Building in Canterbury host ‘The Fixture’ a chance for teams to take turns to host the evening and make it their own.
In addition to this, at the end of the sporting year there is the Sports Federation Dinner to celebrate the success of the sports teams and clubs over the past season and present the colours. Other events include Varsity when Christ Church takes on neighbours University of Kent in a variety of sports, and there is also Old Boys/Old Girls which sees players from previous years return to the University to take part in a weekend of activities.
