You may not find a Sports Club or Society that meets your needs, or the needs of your friends and if this is the case, why not form your own? It is best to start off with an informal chat with Matt Power (Vice President Sports), Anca Popescu (Vice President Student Activities) or Adem Djemil (Broadstairs Campus Co-ordinator) who will be able to run you through the process and answer any questions you may have.
Below are some factors that you will have to comply with before you can set your club/society up:
1) Must offer something different
Any new Sports Club or Society must represent added value to Christ Church students and not duplicate the aims/work of a current Club or Society.
2) A Constitution
The constitution is the document that governs the way your club or society will run. There is a model constitution available from the Vice President (Student Activities) that must be completed, but you can add to this as you wish, as long as you don’t break the CCSU Constitution, policies or procedures. Don’t worry it’s very easy to do and we can help you with it.
3) At least 5 members
The minimum membership for both an existing and a new club or society is 5 members so you need to get confirmed interest to start your society. Come and tell us that you have 5 people definitely interested and we will add an item to the online shop and you can instruct your members to buy their online membership and become official members.
4) An officers contact list – “The committee”
The officers contact list should give names, addresses, telephone numbers and e-mail addresses of the officers of your Society. As a minimum you are required to have a Chairperson or President, a Secretary and a Treasurer.
It may seem slightly daunting at first but if you have a genuine interest then it’s not that hard and we can help you along the way. Please come in for a chat to find out how we can help you.
Complete the Society Registration Form and give it to Anca (anca.popescu@canterbury.ac.uk)
