The aim of SURE (Students’ Union Recognition of Engagement) Certificate is to enable current students to get recognised in the University transcript which students receive when they graduate for the volunteering work experience they accomplish with the Students’ Union at Canterbury Christ Church University.

By completing this certificate students should be able to:
- Evidence playing an active role in the Union as: Union Council member, Sport or Society President, Sports or Society Executive Committee member, Welfare Womble, or an independent volunteer in a particular Union area
- Demonstrate achievement of the particular criteria set for different roles in the Union
- Identify skills and attributes developed during the working experience
- Be an active champion of the Students’ Union to the student population and the University
A collection of short pieces of work will be used in the assessment of the SURE Certificate. Students’ Union’s Membership Services Manager (Silvia Rasca) will assess the work. The pieces of work required are specific for each type of activity, tailored towards the needs of the student to build their skills set. These are flexible and will be agreed with each individual student. The activities need to be completed in that particular academic year, and the student will meet with the Union twice a term, making sure the student receives full support from the Union.
If you think you have particular skills you wish to develop, or you are keen to explore different skills or activities, whilst also enjoying your time at University, then the Union is for you. Our aim is to make the student experience the best possible, both for individuals and collectively. We are open and flexible to find you the opportunities you need to develop as an individual beyond your studies, and we are keen to always bring new opportunities to groups of students that you might be want to be part of.
