Tropic Thunder Review

tropic_thunder.jpgBen Stiller has acted in some excellent, witty, clever and funny films – this is not one of them.

This film is also directed by Ben Stiller and is a clear attempt to do something different – even if it is an unsuccessful attempt. The film’s plot start with a group of actors, all about to play a part in a highly funded war film, however, their personalities get in the way, and the fact that they are all self-obsessed stops them from working effectively, in a rather random turn of events, the director of the film in which they are all acting in played by Steve Coogan, decides to throw them all into a jungle, so that they can bond emotionally. With the lapse in judgement aside, this film has some very funny moments, and the fact that it has Ben Stiller and Jack Black in it is boosting the ratings. However, if you are looking to see their best work, look elsewhere – their performances are strictly average and the plotline is slightly absurd.

Overall, this does not reflect Ben Stiller’s best work, and is quite an odd film to watch – although I am positive many people would disagree and think this is a good film – I think a certain type of person would be interested in it – these people include boys that are about thirteen years old and have not reached the age to understand the true meaning of some of the innuendos.
