Four Christmases Review
Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn team up for a festive comedy about a couple that have to visit four different parents as a result of divorce. The director, Seth Gordon is well known for films such as ‘The King of Kong: A Fistful of quarters’ but has chosen to move into a more narrative territory with this film.
After couple Brad and Kate’s holiday plans were changed due to airline trouble, they were forced to see all of their parents over Christmas. However, in the process of doing so, they find out that they did not know each other as well as they thought they did. After many comic moments, and some romantic twists, you come away from the film feeling more excited about the festive season approaching than before.
‘Four Christmases’ is excellent for teenagers and adults alike, however, some of the humour in the film makes it unsuitable for younger children, and therefore it does not make a great family film. If you like the humour in films such as ‘Wedding Crashers’ you will love this. As many Christmas films will compete to get the highest viewings, this film is most certainly in the running. If you are looking to watch this film because you are a fan of any other work by Seth Gordon, I would strongly recommend to look elsewhere, as this is nothing like any of the previous work he has done. However, for a light-hearted Christmas comedy, this is the obvious choice.
