Se7en Review
Gluttony, greed, sloth, envy, wrath, pride, and lust. Seven deadly sins we are all guilty of to some extent, and after watching this film, making you quite glad you are nowhere near the sadistic killer from this epic David Fincher masterpiece. Se7en is a film which follows two detectives (Pitt and Freeman) on their hunt to bring a psychotic serial killer, who tortures and murders, to justice.
This is a film you must own. No two words about it. The twists and turns will keep you gripped in suspense throughout the 227minutes this film runs for. There are notable career highs for everyone involved in this film, especially the simply fantastic performance from Brad Pitt.
Before this film, I was always under the impression Brad Pitt was a bit of a twit, caring more about his chiselled good looks than the quality of his performance. Se7en definitely proved me wrong. It’s a tossup between this and Fight Club to see which one shows him in his best ever role.
Morgan Freeman’s character completely contradicts the outspoken, gun happy character played by Pitt, and shows a more placid and intellectual police officer. Both actors complement each other perfectly and make for some really enthralling viewing.
Se7en is an example of near perfect film making, with superb acting, great cinematography, flawless script and amazing directing, which all sets up for the greatest finale of any film to come out of the 90’s.
