The Unusual Green

11 March 2009 Written by Steven Giles 239 views No Comment

Trespassing through the destroyed park
My eyes alert
My muscles tense
This once playground for friends and lovers
Is lost to young control
Mistreated and misused
The new breed reigns
Out of danger and free to roam

I sit and unravel my emotions
I know I feel hatred
I know I feel unease
A hooded boy marches through the wasteland
With hate in his eyes
Glory in his hands
His camera phone pummels out a death rally
He is out for blood
He has none of his own

A bench donated by a Gladys Learner
Sits proudly on top of a hill
Parents once sat together here
Admiring their imagination
Now it rots with empty crisp packets
A lime green “**** You” hides the donation date
