A welcome from the new editors
Sam Francis and Jamie Harris, newly appointed editors, give you an insight into Unified
Hello and welcome to this edition of Unified. We are the newly appointed editors, Jamie Harris and Sam Francis. We are both second year journalism students so this is a fantastic opportunity for us. We hope that we have brought a new edge and direction to the newspaper with our dedicated team of writers.
We hold weekly meetings above the Student’s Union with all our writers, photographers and talented illustrators. In these meetings we discuss the news agenda, deciding on the stories that matter to you. New additions to the team are welcome so if you want to get involved, do not hesitate to contact us. Or maybe you have an interesting story you want to inform us of, let us know too, we’d like to hear from you. Remember, participating in extra activities like this look amazing on your CV, so all the more reason to get involved.
We feel that Unified is a fundamental way for us as students to communicate our thoughts to the university seniors. As such, we do not hesitate to criticise and praise any area of university and university life. This is our university, our newspaper, so we shouldn’t shy from speaking out.
The last edition of Unified for 2009 is jam packed with everything you need to know, including an exclusive interview with BBC Radio 1’s Greg James (see pages 12 – 13). Plus our reporters look close up at Augustine House (pages 6 – 7) and the on-going student loans chaos (front page). Don’t miss our round up of all the sports at Christ Church on our back pages too.
Until next time, we hope you have a smashing Christmas and remember, should you like to get involved with Unified, please email us at kal.sajad@canterbury.ac.uk, and visit us online at www.ccsu.co.uk/unified.
