To be beautiful, successful and to have the perfect man – isn’t that every contemporary woman’s dream?

Well Abby Richter (Katherine Heigl) has it all (almost). She’s the Carrie Bradshaw in the TV industry producing her own breakfast show in Sacramento. Just a man is missing in her perfect looking life. But workaholics and control freaks can hardly attract men and Abby is both. After a couple of disaster dates she has almost lost faith. When her show starts losing it’s audience, Abby’s world crashes. She needs to find a way to pick up the ratings or she will lose her job.

The solution (for her horror) comes in the person of Mike Chadway (Gerard Butler). He is the host of a dating show called “The Ugly Truth” where Mike gives women dating advice using some very crude language. Abby’s boss hires him to have a 3-minute appearance on Abby’s show and the audience loves him.

While everybody is falling for Mike, Abby is totally indignant at his uncensored views about love and relationships. But when she meets Colin (the perfect man) she seeks Mike’s help, as a dating expert because she is feeling too insecure about herself. For her luck, Mike turns out to be a real pro in love tricks.

The plot of ‘The Ugly Truth’ might sound corny but do not hurry to put the film in the typical romantic comedy box. At second sight the movie can be a real pleasure. And the scene with Abby’s vibrating panties in the restaurant should be in the hall of fame for funniest movie moments in history.
