“We are the Jets”

5 February 2010 Written by Lauren Pickard 529 views No Comment

To be a Jet you have to be able to juggle and manage your coursework, social life and cheerleading together and never become the bore on Tour.

The squad is made up of 50 girls who, following the tough team selection process in September, have accomplished ,through dedication and hard work, the high standards required to coordinate our routines.

Congratulations to those who have made it through, we are a great team who are willing to step up and give our special support to Christ Church at a number of sports events, home or away. The fun and everlasting memories of a sports society are yours for the making.

You can see us performing our various routines supporting our guys on a Wednesday at Stoddie. This term we are also going to turn out at Polo Farm and the Sports Centre, come along and give the teams and us your support.

If you are a sports team looking for cheerleading support on match days get in touch, if you are a society who would like to organise a mixed social event with us, get in touch.

Social Networking Events this Term

March 8th

Varsity – The biggest and most important event of the year; Christchurch versus UKC. “This is an event where winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing!” (Vince Lombardi)

Make sure you join us at the Canterbury Rugby Club as half time as it just got interesting, we need to show UKC who’s boss; so raise your colours be united and get behind us with your vocal support, make it Christchurch’s day.

March 10th

We shall be up to UKC supporting our teams, so come along to support the various Christchurch teams competing on the day.
There will also be a fixture night in the SU although the date has not yet been set (watch this space). We have a number of various items and events taking place throughout the night, whatever happens you’ll have fun, date to be advised so keep a watch out for the announcement of the fixture and come down and support us and our chosen charity.

March 20th

The Jets will be entering their first competition of the season at Nottingham; where we shall be competing nationally with other level 2 Cheerleading squads. Taking part at this level of competition is an outstanding achievement on its own and we will keep you posted on how we fared.

March 27th

The Jets are on Tour in Lloret de Mar. I would like to give my special thanks to Alex Parr and Lauren Sheppard who have organised and sorted the Tour for us.

We will continue to promote Christchurch as “Legends” as we did last year in Salou, an amazing 4 days that as a fresher will never be forgotten.

We are fortunate to be training and competing with some of the top British Cheerleaders where I hope we can pick up some additional routines.

I would like to close by taking this opportunity to thank the committee for all its support and enthusiasm as well as every member of the Team for their dedication to training and hard work. My personal thanks to you all and I look forward to working and enjoying term 2 with the Jets.
