Four Christmases Review

Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn team up for a festive comedy about a couple that have to visit four different parents as a result of divorce. The director, Seth Gordon is well known for films such as ‘The King of Kong: A Fistful of quarters’ but has chosen to move into a more narrative territory with this film.
After couple Brad and Kate’s holiday plans were changed due to airline trouble, they were forced to see all of their parents over Christmas. However, in the process of doing so, they find …

Burn After Reading Review

The Coen brothers – Joel and Ethan are known for making classics, such as ‘No Country for Old Men’ and ‘Fargo’ and although this film is of an acceptable effort, it has some funny jokes and has big stars such as George Clooney and Brad Pitt staring in it – I cannot imagine it will be up for any awards any time soon.
The plot is very basic – two gormless gym instructors (Brad Pitt and Frances McDormand) come across some ex CIA memoirs, after this event takes place, many quite …

The House Bunny Review

Anna Faris goes from mediocre teenage actress in ‘Scary Movie’ to talented young woman in ‘The House Bunny’. Directed quite obviously by Adam Sandler, if you enjoy naked women and half-hearted jokes – you will love this film.
Although this film was nothing short of an attempt to recreate the success of ‘Legally Blonde’ and other mindless comedies. Anna Faris made the character her own and was looking in very good shape whilst doing so.
The plotline is extremely basic – At twenty-seven years old, the playboy bunny Shelly (played by Faris) …

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull Review

19 Years after the release of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Steven Spielberg directed the fourth instalment, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Once you get past the initial reintroduction, it’s obvious that this fourth film in the Indy series really has no idea where to go. Except for the opening – which literally starts the film off with a bang – and a couple of dazzling chase sequences, “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” is about as unfocused and meandering as the title …

Mamma Mia Review

Mamma Mia is one of the best musicals ever made. The songs throughout are especially catchy meaning the entire audience connects with the film when watching. Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) is a twenty something girl about to get married on the Greek island where her mother (Meryl Streep) owns a rundown hotel. She would like to invite her father but herein lies the problem: since her mother had various affairs before she was born, Daddy could be one of three men. So she invites them all to the wedding, …

Tropic Thunder Review

Ben Stiller has acted in some excellent, witty, clever and funny films – this is not one of them.
This film is also directed by Ben Stiller and is a clear attempt to do something different – even if it is an unsuccessful attempt. The film’s plot start with a group of actors, all about to play a part in a highly funded war film, however, their personalities get in the way, and the fact that they are all self-obsessed stops them from working effectively, in a rather random turn of …
