Restaurant Review – Strada

As we navigated our way through Strada’s extensive array of food stuffs, we were pleasantly surprised with the unique dishes on offer compared to other Italian chains such as Zizzi, Prezzo, and Cafe Uno, etc, whose menus tend to be fairly similar, covering all the Britalian faves of chicken caeser salad, lasagne, spag bol… Strada’s courses just seemed a little more devoted to cultural authenticity.

‘Carnage’ hits the City of Canterbury

Pub crawls for first year freshers is condemned in the local and national press

Yoshi – sushi restaurant in Canterbury

Until yesterday my only experience of sushi was from the little chilled packs that are available from the chiller sections in supermarkets, but that changed with a visit to Yoshi in Canterbury. Budget 2009 – No increase in CCCU Student Bar prices

Yesterday (22/4/09) Alistair Darling announced the new 2009 Budget and one of the first points that many students will look to, along with fuel duty and cigarettes, is to how much tax on alcohol is going up by.
From today, Thursday 23rd April, alcohol rates increase by 2% above the rate of inflation and will mean the following rises:

Beer (4.2% abv pint of beer) – 1p
Wine (75cl bottle) – 4p
Sparkling wine (75cl bottle) – 5p
Spirits (37.5% abv 70cl bottle) – 13p
