Mexican rice and bean casserole

Yoshi – sushi restaurant in Canterbury

Until yesterday my only experience of sushi was from the little chilled packs that are available from the chiller sections in supermarkets, but that changed with a visit to Yoshi in Canterbury. From the exterior it looks like a typical oriental restaurant, only situated on a ring road, and not welcoming at all, but I had heard they served sushi and I had to go to see if this was true.

Pandemic? CCSU Advice on Swine Flu

As you will be aware from news reports, there is current concern about the swine influenza outbreak in Mexico and the reported cases in the USA and Europe. Symptoms of swine influenza are similar to those of seasonal influenza, usually a feverish illness (temperature above 38 degrees centigrade) accompanied by one or more of cough, sore throat, headache and limb/joint pains. For most people this illness appears to be mild. Infection with this virus is treatable with anti-viral medication.

Budget 2009 – No increase in CCCU Student Bar prices

Yesterday (22/4/09) Alistair Darling announced the new 2009 Budget and one of the first points that many students will look to, along with fuel duty and cigarettes, is to how much tax on alcohol is going up by.
From today, Thursday 23rd April, alcohol rates increase by 2% above the rate of inflation and will mean the following rises:

Beer (4.2% abv pint of beer) – 1p
Wine (75cl bottle) – 4p
Sparkling wine (75cl bottle) – 5p
Spirits (37.5% abv 70cl bottle) – 13p
