As you will be aware from news reports, there is current concern about the swine influenza outbreak in Mexico and the reported cases in the USA and Europe. Symptoms of swine influenza are similar to those of seasonal influenza, usually a feverish illness (temperature above 38 degrees centigrade) accompanied by one or more of cough, sore throat, headache and limb/joint pains. For most people this illness appears to be mild. Infection with this virus is treatable with anti-viral medication.

Last month the students at Broadstairs Campus voted in their new Campus Committee and although the voting turnout wasn’t huge the important thing was the candidates’ commitment to getting elected and them actually making a choice and standing for a position.

What charity are you volunteering for and what are they all about?
I am volunteering for a charity called The Biggin Hill Romania Group, who are a group of people who dedicate time to bring hope and love to the disadvantaged people of Romania who live in such hardship. In Romania (Comanesti) they have set up a centre for any children regardless of disabilities or homeless problems, where they can come in each day and meet other children in a warm building.
