About Us

Looking try something new this year? We are looking for new players to join our team! Joining a sports team will undoubtedly improve your university experience. Whether that is with us at women’s rugby or with another team, we encourage you to do so!

We are Canterbury Christ Church Women’s Rugby! A little about ourselves we spontaneous bunch of girls who love to play rugby on a Wednesday against different universities. We are currently in BUCS South Eastern 2A League, where we reached Third in the league in 2022/2023 season. Also came Third in The Conference Cup! 

Why should you join us? Why not! We are like family, we look after everyone that comes through the team and who’s in the team! If you fancy joining something new such as rugby, then come ahead as not only do we do Union rugby, we do touch rugby. It undoubtedly improves your university experience by joining a sports team and why not make it rugby!! 

Every March, our university battles with University of Kent, which isn’t far from CCCU! All of the sports teams are involved and take part in a week-long event known as ‘Varsity’! Either rugby will start the whole varsity off or we will finish it. We have been successful against UKC in the past! 

Every Wednesday, after our games will have a Social where you have a theme every week and have a laugh with the team! Not only do we have socials every Wednesday, we head over to The Lounge to find out who won Player of the Week and Team of the Week! 

Last season 22/23 Sports Federation, we won the most improved club and our lovely captain Ollie Andrews won Sports Scholar of the Year and The Mark Burgess Award.

Our coaching staff for the 2023/2024 season consists of Nathan Morris and Jesse De Vries, who both currently play for Canterbury RFC First Team. 

Weekly training times:

Monday: Canterbury Rugby Club at 6:00-7:30pm. 

Friday: Sand pitch Polo Farm at 6:00 – 7:00pm. 

We are a family who do everything together. If you're looking to make friends for life, then women’s rugby is the society for you.

When purchasing your membership, we need you to share any pre-existing medical conditions, illnesses or injuries by completing this form. This will enable us to provide support to you throughout your time involved in sports clubs and societies. We need you to keep us updated if any circumstances change. 

Once you have shared this information, we will ask you to gather medical evidence showing that doctors have signed you off and have given you the go ahead to participate. It helps us work with our insurance provider to ensure we are all covered and of staff to make sure your needs are met. If you need support in gathering the medical evidence, then a member of staff can contact you, once you have completed the form.

Any information you give us will only be shared with Christ Church Sport, Christ Church Students’ Union, and the president of your committee. This helps ensure your safety and risk assessments to mitigate any issues.
