Puppy Day Blog

In the last week of term with a number of deadlines and exams looming, what better way to relieve stress and put a smile on students faces than Christ Church’s first ever Puppy Day!

The Students’ Union worked alongside a local Labrador breeder (whose family have been breeding labradors for 170 years) to bring 7 dogs and 5 puppies to Augustine House for 2 hours of cuddles.

Over 400 students attended what was an amazing day and an incredible £529 was raised for TAG Pet Rescue Centre in Thanet.

There was also a celebrity labrador in attendance, Trixie, who appeared in BBC’s Downton Abbey!

I would like to say a massive thankyou to all the Puppy Day volunteers, without whom the day could not have run so smoothly!

Puppy Day volunteeer Charlotte Smith had this to say "I loved not only the puppies, but the atmosphere and the fun of being involved in a fantastic day" whilst student Bethany Alice Brace commented "Undeniably the best day of university so far and a perfect method of stress relief for exam season, I hope these become a much more regular occurrence at CCCU!"

I think I will struggle to enjoy a day at work as much as I enjoyed Puppy Day … until the next one! Keep your eyes peeled for these events we want to host at satellite campus’ as well as back in Canterbury in May!
