My Freshers Week as Union President

What a busy Freshers’ Week that was! I hope you all enjoyed yourselves and are now in the thick of life at Christ Church.

After months of planning by the Students’ Union I was happy to be able to get out and meet lots of new students. Here’s what my Freshers’ Week looked like.

Saturday 17th September

Working alongside Welcome Crew, I spent the day moving freshers into Pin Hill and Petros Court halls of residences in Canterbury and after that it was home for a shower and then back to The Lounge for #hellochristchurch. What a night!

Sunday 18th September

What a great chance to meet more students at Registration day! After a day in the library meeting Freshers I got to The Lounge nice and early in the evening for the Ibiza night where I took photos and got to meet loads more new students!

Monday 19th September

Bright and early I travelled to Broadstairs with our Managing Director, Ben, to do lecture shout outs. After this, we definitely didn’t get a Toby Carvery... Then back to the lounge for more lecture shout outs.

Tuesday 20th September

Bright and early again, I helped to run an induction session to all combined honours freshers providing top tips and answering any questions. Then I went straight into a FULL DAY of governing body. The evening was spent back in Broadstairs, where us sabbs enjoyed the Broadstairs house party (see the photos). I was back to The Lounge afterwards to help set up for the next day’s Freshers’ Fayre.

Wednesday 21st September

Everyone's favourite day - Freshers’ Fayre! I definitely made the most of the freebies…

After the chaos, it was time for the Zoo party! Again I joined in on the night in the SU and Club Chemistry.

Thursday 22nd September

FRESHERS FARM. Campus was so good! Spent the day petting animals, BBQ, music and sports. More lecture shoutouts. The evening was spent with Phil joining the street marshals to keep Gotham safe.

Friday 23rd September

Fitness Friday. Here I smashed the obstacle course and was leading the leaderboard until more lecture shoutouts with Nick! After that, I checked out foodie Friday in the lounge and had the night off!

Saturday 24th September

SPORT TRIALS! Here I checked out Men's Football and Women's Rugby trials - where the Women's Rugby team embarrassed me! I then spent lunchtime with the family and the evening at Kent County Cricket Awards representing CCCU with Nick, Biba and Men’s Cricket President, Jordan Howard.

So that was my Freshers’ Week. A busy time but well worth it as I got to meet so many people.
