Felcie Browne

Good day to you

My name is Felcie Browne.

I am currently in my third year studying English Language and Communication.

I have a background in teaching and supporting adults with special needs and disabilities in the classroom and at an educational farm setting.

I have also been able to volunteer in South Africa in 2015 supporting adults with special needs that have experienced abuse, family abandonment and other traumatic incidences. While I was there, I was able to facilitate fundraising projects in local shopping malls and towns as well as participating in talks in local schools to raise awareness about children and adults with special needs and disabilities.

My dissertation has allowed me to undertake research into the wellbeing and mental health of students with special educational needs. I have had the pleasure to interview teachers and have had an insight into their challenges they face but also their passion for their students’ personal development and potential.

Naturally intuitive, eager to help others and an advocate for anyone that needs support, I will be determined to leave a positive blueprint for others when my time ends as your sabbatical officer.

I love listening and working with others as equals, creatively sharing ideas and putting plans into fruition. Working closely with our sabbatical officers is with the aim to ensure that all sports, societies and activities are accessible for all students.

After the pandemic I feel the emphasise on students’ mental health will be the backbone and motivation to make a difference at CCCU. I would like to look at how we can improve students’ confidence, raising awareness and education of diversity and inclusion of underrepresented groups, students’ communication skills and their access to mental health related resources that are helpful and inclusive for all.

What do I believe?

I believe that everyone has a meaningful purpose that can positively impact their own lives and those around them.

I believe that underrepresented groups have a unique take on our world and have the power to make positive change and impact to all of our lives.

I am so grateful to have met all the inspiring individuals in my life so far that have allowed me to make a difference, I hope I can do the same at CCCU and continue grow along the way.

Thank you for reading my manifesto
