With Christmas just around the corner, most students are getting ready to head home for the holidays, however the stress and anxiety of exams and coursework called for some relief and Christ Church Students’ Union were on hand with Puppy Day!

The Students’ Union worked in conjunction with a local Labrador breeder to bring 12 dogs and puppies to Canterbury for the morning and for 2 hours Augustine Hall was transformed into puppy paradise.

Over 400 students came along to the event paying £1 to spend 5 mins in with the puppies. There were also other fundraising stalls all raising money for the TAG Pet Rescue Centre in Thanet.

A great time was had by humans and canines alike and lots of cuddles and puppy play time was had by all. The event raised £529 for the charity and the students came away feeling relaxed and full of puppy love.

President Wellbeing and Education, Phil Semmens, who organised the event said:

It was great to see Puppy Day bring so much happiness to our students as well as raising money for such a good cause. We’ll definitely be looking to holding future puppy events in the near future.
