Runners wanted for the Cathedrals Group fundraising 10k run

We want Staff and students to take part!

Staff and students across the University are being invited to join the Cathedrals Group team in a 10k run to raise funds for the Article 26 Project.

Last year, the members of the Cathedrals Group had teams of students run the Basingstoke Half Marathon with a fantastic sum of £3,000 raised to support the Article 26 Project – part of the Helena Kennedy Foundation.

This year’s running event is the Mash March Madness: 10k Forrest Trail Race at Cannock Chase Saturday 28 March, 11.00am.

If you would like to take part and raise funds for the Article 26 Project, you can register on the EntryCentral website.  Please list your running club as ‘Cathedrals Group’. After registering you can then invite others to sponsor you using the Cathedral Group’s specially created fundraising page.

Article 26 enables disadvantaged students to continue with their education and attend university. The project supports students who are seeking sanctuary in the UK, or have Discretionary Leave to Remain as the result of an asylum claim. Both of these groups of students are classed as international students by universities, which means their fees are much higher than home students. Yet both groups of students are also unable to access student finance and students seeking sanctuary are not allowed to work. This makes attending university a seemingly impossible dream. Article 26 supports these students to complete their degrees and provides the particular support they need, making university a reality for talented students.
