Come clean on tuition fees

On the 11th of November 2009, a bus with 38 students left Canterbury to join the protest on tuition fees in London. Thirty of them were studying at Christ Church and leading them was the Students’ Union Vice President (Welfare and Education) Steve Godwin.
The protest in London was organised in less than 2 days. “Every delegate in an SU was given the heads up from NUS on Monday afternoon. When the government released their papers on Monday morning, we were rallied for support. The debate is about local students voting, …

A Fine Lot of Artists

With exam season in full swing, some of you may be crying out for a break from your books and a chance to do something different, which is where the university’s Fine and Applied Arts students come in. UKC scored first and solidified this with a strong opening streak of points, defending skilfully when required, forcing Christ Church to raise their game, leaving the first quarter score at 22-14 to UKC. The second quarter opened up with fast play and a fierce display from both teams, seeing longer periods of possession. However, despite some good side-line shooting …

How to Lose a Couple of Pounds (and Save Lives)

Who doesn’t love finding money? I found a ten pence piece the other day and felt over the moon! But at the same time, if I were to lose ten pence I don’t think I’d notice; the person whose ten pence I found obviously didn’t. So when I opened a paper today and was asked to donate £2 a month to “Give water. Give life” I was pretty shocked. Water is something we take for granted. We complain because too much of it falls and makes our rivers overflow, and …
