Lily Allen – It’s not me. It’s you.

lily_allen-its_not_you-cover.jpg2009 so far has brought stars to glossy heights, with everyone staying to their own distinctive sound as the recession is settling in. One person still willing to show some bottle, and stick their neck out and try something new is Lilly Allen. Her new album ‘It’s not me, It’s you’ is the second album from the glamorous singer. Indifferent to her old album, the jokey indie feel of songs like ‘LDN’, ‘Smile’ and ‘Alfie’ have become ashes in Miss Allen’s musical past. There seems to be a whole new package and way of writing songs with this singer.

With all her change however, the Lilly Allen of today seems to care more about her image then her music, bringing mish-mashed songs such as ‘Not Fair’, but there is still lots to like about this album. The Lilly we know is different to the Lilly who sang songs such as ‘The Fear’, ‘Everyone’s at it’ and ‘22’.

The new hits concentrate more on how society has become selfish and one track minded. For most guys, this album could be seen as a lesson in how to treat women, and broadcast messages of a chauvinistic nature.
This album overall, feels more appropriate listening to whilst enjoying a quiet drink, juxtaposing her earlier music we enjoyed dancing to.

So sorry Lilly, but if you were going for another club banger; better luck next time. Well done on the relaxing effort and having the balls to try something new.
