Candidate for the position of MedSoc - Wellbeing Officer

Ellenor Billings-Deed

Hello I’m Ellie Billings-Deed and I’d love to be your well-being officer.

I don’t know about you guys but the last two terms have been extremely tough and the importance of well-being for med students has become abundantly clear.

I’d like to use what I’ve learnt as well as your guy’s knowledge to make sure we all get through medical school in one piece!

So let’s get into it:

- I want to continue Jamie’s work: yoga, meetings with Olive

- I’d like to work closely with MedSoc members to increase the presence of well being in both SSL meetings as well as in the social side of MedSoc

- Increased involvement in Freshers week so that new medical students are aware of the services from the start

- Work with all of medsoc to raise awareness about sexual wellbeing including sexual assault

- I want to get more people involved in the mentoring scheme. I’ve personally found this such a useful resource even if sometimes my mentor and I just sit and rant for an hour it makes such a big difference to my well-being

- Perhaps med families?

- Work closely with social sec so we’ve got some socials that encourage us to de-stress some examples may include movie nights, guest speaking events around well-being and mindfulness

- Let you guys know stuff going on around Canterbury to promote more of a work life balance

- Get you guys more involved. I think we’re all more likely to use student well being services if we’ve helped to build them into something WE think is useful. I want to hear feedback from all of you about what YOU need

I have lots more ideas and can’t wait to hear your ideas.

Vote for me! :))
