President (Engagement and Sports)
As the President (Engagement and Sports) you are:
- Focused on student engagement with the Students’ Union, as well as Sports and physical extracurricular activity as part of the student experience.
- A trustee of Christ Church Students’ Union as a charity.
- A director of Christ Church Students’ Union as a company.
- Lead liaison with BUCS.
- You will be paid £22,662 or more for the year (plus 17.5% employer pension contribution).
As the President (Engagement and Sports) you are:

Focused on student engagement with the Students’ Union, as well as Sports and physical extracurricular activity as part of the student experience.

As the President (Engagement and Sports) you will:

Lead on championing events aimed at student engagement with the Union.
-
Further the Sports and physical activity advancement of students, individually and collectively, whilst enhancing student involvement with Christ Church Students’ Union.

Represent and enhance student experiences within club Sports, university recreational Sports, and Sports as a wellbeing opportunity for all students, as well as lead on student involvement with activity related to the Union, such as Freshers’ Fayre, Freshers’ activities, Personal Development Week activities.

Represent the student voice on a number of University committees, including but not limited to Sports Strategic Group, Varsity Steering Group and the Expect Respect Committee.

Represent Christ Church Students’ Union in BUCS.

Be responsible for engagement related to casual Sports participation (e.g. CC Sports Initiatives, Intramural).

Lead on campaigns that revolve directly around Sports and physical activity.
As the President (Engagement and Sports) you might:

Campaign on issues that although are not Sports related in nature, affect students as students.
-
Run to become Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Students’ Union.
-
Engage with local and national campaigns and bodies.
-
Work with the President (Campaigns and Societies) to support activity related societies (e.g. Capoeira, Self Defence & Wellbeing).
As an elected officer you will:

Ensure your work is influenced by student needs and opinion.

Represent and engage with students of all types of study at all parts of campuses.
-
Work and support your team of fellow Presidents and Union Council Officers.
-
Be ready and willing to accept actions from Union Council and engage positively in the scrutiny process.

Plan a comprehensive programme of student engagement activities at the beginning of your term in office.

Work to deliver the Students’ Union’s strategic objectives, and contribute to the promotion of the vision, mission, and ambition, and share the Union’s values.

Engage in debate with team colleagues, holding each other to account and setting the Students’ Union’s priorities.
-
Run campaigns alongside your fellow Officers, pushing for change on a range of issues affecting students.

Ensure the Union is run sustainably, championing ethical and sustainable practices within the community.

- Focused on coordinating the Union’s campaigns, supporting student-led campaigns and ensuring the creation and sustainability of student groups and students’ skills development.

- Lead liaison with the Medway campus.

As the President (Campaigns and Societies) you are:

Focused on coordinating the Union’s campaigns, supporting student-led campaigns and ensuring the creation and sustainability of student groups and students’ skills development.

As the President (Campaigns and Societies) you will:

Coordinate the Union’s campaigning activity, working closely with the other three Presidents and supporting student-led campaigns.

Further the development of students through extra-curricular activities and skills development opportunities beyond their studies, individually and collectively.
-
Be the lead officer and responsible for all student led societies.
-
Represent and enhance student experiences through creating and nurturing student networks, whilst advocating development through non-academic activity.
-
Represent the student voice on a number of University committees, including but not limited to Higher Education Achievement Record, Volunteering, Personal Development and Careers.
-
Be the lead officer for Christ Church Students’ Union at the Medway campus.

Lead to establish, support and develop student communities (Student interest societies, non-campaigning communities).

Be responsible for enhancing student engagement with non-academic activity, such as volunteering and skills development opportunities, including placements and enterprise.

Aid in the initial creation and development of all student communities.

As the President (Community, Diversity & Inclusion) you will:

Champion and promote diversity and inclusion within the University, Students’ Union and the community, with a focus on underrepresented groups (e.g. BAME, LGBT+, Disabled, Mature and International students, student parents and carers).

Build and maintain relationships with local community organisations and groups, and promote student integration with the local communities of Canterbury and Medway.
-
Work closely with the University to further the collective wellbeing of students, and signpost students with individual wellbeing issues to appropriate specialist support.

Represent and enhance student experiences in relation to their wellbeing and students’ life in the community, with a focus on sustainability.

Represent the student voice on a number of University committees, including but not limited to Expect Respect, Sustainability, Suicide Prevention Strategy Group, Nightline Board of Stakeholders, Professional Services Sub-Committee.
