Casey Heyburn

Casey Heyburn lives and breathes new music. Having been in the live music events industry from the age of 13, Casey is now the producer of BBC Introducing in Kent, which airs every Saturday night from 8pm on BBC Radio Kent – a show that is widely considered as the go-to for new music by new music fans and industry experts alike.

Having shown radio editors that he is the man for the job, Casey is a regular stand-in for Abbie McCarthy (BBC Introducing In Kent / BBC Radio 1) on the Kent BBC Introducing show, as well as Melita Dennett in The South (Sussex & Surrey); allowing him to champion new music from across the South East.

Casey’s ear for the best new music is frequently demonstrated in the selection of music that he showcases on the show, with many of their artists going on to get national radio play. These artists have included SHAPES, Mosa Wild and Matt Wills.

Casey’s DJing career began as a resident for Ashford’s Intimacy Promotions, playing a variety of sets from commercial dance and house, to indie and alternative. As part of his radio beginnings he would also jump live in the mix on Academy FM (Folkestone) for an hour as a warm up into Craig Hayward’s (now better known as one half of Shapes) Urban Playlist.

Casey demonstrated his mixing skills on air as part of a dance music show on CSR FM (Canterbury), which he used to present on Friday nights from 11pm. He’s also the hidden talent behind BBC Introducing in Kent New Year Mixtape – featuring solely Kent artists – in both 2016 and 2017.

Casey has since been seen DJing at Canterbury Christ Church University Fresher’s Week 2017, as well as at Brands Hatch, Create Festival and The Auction House (Ashford). Among these sets he has supported the likes of Shift K3Y, Redlight and Borgore.

In order to combine his love of radio, new music and DJing, Casey launched That’s A Wrap – a monthly countdown of his top 10 dance tracks from that month - in January 2017. It’s been growing in popularity, with That’s A Wrap // October ’17 peaking at #38 in the MixCloud Electronic Dance Music chart, and other episodes regularly entering in the top 100.

Casey’s ability to read his audience along with his keen ear for a good tune will keep the crowd moving and no doubt introduce them to their new favourite tracks.
