Your Power, Your Vote

So Today is National Voter Registration Day and Unions around the country are chatting to students left right and centre to register to vote for the General Election on May 7th.

Did you know that only 44% of 18-24 year olds voted in the General Election in 2010?

If that was doubled - Could you imagine the power young people would have over the voting system? It would be HUGE!

If you are unsure of why your vote really makes a difference then here are some key facts to show you how every vote counts and how students hold the key to this general election.

Registering to vote - Why should I ?

  • It gives you a say on who runs the Government
  • It gives you a say on important issues that could affect you - DSA allowance cut (who wants this back, I sure do)

  • Why deny something you have the right to do ? People have died across the country to get their right

  • Last but not least - Its so easy to register - 2 minutes and you are registered for any election

Try something new and Register to vote -

You will need :

  • Your name
  • address you are voting from (choose the one you will more likely be at for 7th May)
  • National Insurance Number (There is an option if you dont have it and the local council will just contact you for this later if you leave this at home)

This is YOUR chance to make CHANGE about something you have moaned and groaned about - Lets make a stand and make changes we want!
