The Canterbury Christ Church Equestrian Team offers horse riding to a range of abilities from those who have never sat on a horse to those competing at an advanced level. We are lucky enough to have the use of two fantastic yards, Trenley Park and Barton Field Farm, for our lessons and events throughout the year.

Our social riding is predominantly based at Barton Field Farm. These include lessons from beginner to advanced, hacks, horseball, mounted games and a variety of competitions. Social riding is open to all abilities.

We have three competing teams within CCCU Equestrian; BUCS A (championship), BUCS B (trophy) and Varsity.

Varsity is held in semester two and is our competition against our main rivals from the University of Kent. Riders have the opportunity to compete in dressage, show jumping or both if numbers allow. Dressage can start from a walk-trot test to novice and jumping from cross poles to around 60cm. Varsity caters to a wide range of abilities providing you are able to confidently ride unaided.

Our two BUCS teams cater to our more advanced riders, with four competitions held across the year. Riders must be able to perform a dressage test up to novice level and complete a show jumping course of 80cm+. The highest qualifying teams and individuals not from the winning team have the opportunity to compete and regionals and nationals.

We hold weekly socials that are suitable for drinkers and non-drinkers alike. We also welcome social members who have no interest in horse riding but would still like to be part of a sports team. All our socials are themed with games and fancy dress to match. Although Covid-19 means that our socials will be virtual for the foreseeable future, we promise to make them just as fun as in person socials.

If anyone has any questions, please contact us and we will be happy to help. We look forward to welcoming everyone for the 20/21 year and we hope to meet you all soon
