Cristina-Madalina Anghelus

Why do you want to apply for a Student Leader Position?

Hi, my name is Cristina and I'm applying for a Student Leader Position because I believe leadership isn't about having all the answers, it's about being present, approachable, and willing to advocate for others. I'm applying because I genuinely care about how students experience university life, not just academically, but emotionally and socially too. As a student myself, I know how overwhelming university can feel at times. I want to be a voice for students who may feel unheard and help build a more connected and compassionate student community.

What are your Priorities?

If elected, my priorities would focus on students' wellbeing, communication, and inclusion. Firstly, I would prioritize creating spaces where students feel safe to speak up, ask for support, and not feel judged or struggling. Secondly, I aim to improve communication between students and the university. Finally, I would prioritise inclusivity and community. University should feel like a place where people with different backgrounds, cultures, personalities, and experiences are respected and valued. I want to help create opportunities for students to connect, feel involved, and feel truly belonging.

What skills and experience do you have that would make you a good Student Leader?

I am someone who had to grow up early and take responsibility for myself from a young age, which has shaped my adaptability, self-motivation, emotional intelligence, and resilience. Through life and academic experience, I have developed strong self-awareness, empathy without judgement, emotional regulation, independence, integrity, communication and listening skills. I bring these qualities into everything I do, with a genuine desire to act with care, fairness, and contribute positively to the people and community around me.
