We are deeply saddened by the news that a University of Kent student has died following a case of invasive meningitis. Our thoughts are with the student’s family, friends and the wider university community at this very difficult time, as well as all those who are unwell in hospital with the infection.
Canterbury Christ Church University has taken the decision to postpone events and extra-curricular activities on the Canterbury Campus this week. This includes the following CCSU events:
At present, all activities planned for next week will continue as normal. We will endeavour to rearrange our Spring events and Debate Night at a later date and will share further details in due course.
All planned core activities on the Canterbury Campus are continuing as normal. This includes lectures and wider teaching, learning, and research activities.
All activities at the Medway Campus are unaffected.
Students are advised to follow official guidance and stay informed via the University’s latest updates. Further information on symptoms and what to do if you are concerned is available from the UK Health Security Agency.
We know that this may be a concerning time, and we want to reassure you that all appropriate steps are being taken, in line with expert guidance, to protect your safety and wellbeing. We encourage any student who feels they need support to reach out to the University’s Student Wellbeing and Support Team.
