After a busy September, we were so excited to keep the momentum going into October. You all came back to campus raring to go and we hope we matched your energy :)
We started the month with Molly’s Taylor Swift Listening party where we made friendship bracelets, t-shirts and of course sang along to the new album. We had lots of ‘Give it a Go’ sessions throughout the month and it was so nice to see you all in the SU! From the Tuck shop to the Halloween party (with a real fortune teller) we really had something for everyone, but our largest Give it a Go session this month was our collaboration with Christ Church Sport: Girls’ Night In. Designed to be a safe space for girls to try new things, Molly and Emma got stuck into all of the activities and really enjoyed seeing the community this brought together!!
Back by popular demand was our Student Leader Quiz! Thank you to all that came to the Spooky Sunday Spectacular, we are now looking ahead to our Christmas themed quiz. Our other Halloween event was for the sporting community - we are very grateful for the reception of our Final Whistle! We hope that they can return regularly and add a little bit of extra fun to your Wednesday evenings.
Onto sports and the Christ Church Lions have started the year with a BANG. They’re training hard and it shows in the results: 30 winning fixtures so far… 9 of those were against UKC! Stoddy is also out of hibernation and travelling around with the teams. He is having a splendid time.
Emma spent a lot of time at the Medway campus, starting the month with the Student Voice forum. Thank you all for taking the time to fill out the survey and provide your feedback. We are working together across all three SUs to make things happen this year (and Emma will hopefully be able to share some Shuttle Bus related progress next month!). Joe and Emma also held a placement feedback breakfast and one of many academic skills sessions. It is great to speak to you all in Medway and hear how you are doing. We have lots planned for November!!
We also began upskilling our student group committee members. From events planning training to Volunteering competitions, we had a lot of free pizza! Both our sports and societies executive committees are up and running with lots of plans for this year - so watch this space.
Let’s discuss our biggest achievement this month - The Any Other Business Podcast! What started as a joke in the office has actually become a REAl podcast! It’s on Spotify and everything!!! Thank you all for the great feedback, we are glad you enjoyed listening as much as we enjoyed recording. We only released one introductory episode in October but we aim to release more in November AND have student guests. If you want to suggest a topic for the podcast (or be on it) DM our Instagram - @ccsu_elected
