CCSU is a Quality Students' Union!

Quality Students’ Unions is an assurance framework specifically developed for SUs and run by the National Union of Students Charity – the framework considers the quality, standards, and overall effectiveness of students’ unions.  We decided to undertake the QSU accreditation last year for a number of reasons - we wanted to pause and reflect on our progress, to celebrate our successes, and we wanted to embrace the process as an opportunity to review and further improve.

Over the course of 2024/25 we compiled a submission with evidence of our work on behalf of and with students in areas such as strategy, governance, communications, services, relationships & partnerships, and student participation.  The process involves both critical self-assessment and reflection of our work, which is then scrutinised by external auditors against a number of criteria.

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that we have been awarded NUS’s Quality Students’ Union accreditation, with the vast majority of categories being assessed as either ‘very good’ or ‘excellent'!  You can view the full Report here.  As a people-centered organisation, we are particularly pleased to be recognised as ‘excellent’ in this area.

Whilst we are delighted with our outcome, we very much believe our work is ongoing - we know that we need to anticipate future challenges and opportunities, embrace change, and continually innovate and evolve - whilst never losing sight of our core ethos of being for students, by students.  The Report details a number of areas for further improvement and we will waste no time in reviewing and implementing these.

As we have strived to do since 1962, we are here to Make It Happen and to support and empower every student at Canterbury Christ Church University.
