From rugby, football, and boxing to snowsports and beyond — with over 30 sports to choose from, there's something for everyone at Canterbury Christ Church University!
Each year, more than 1,000 students join our sports clubs as part of the Christ Church Sports Federation, better known as the Christ Church Lions or Team Christ Church. Most clubs have multiple teams, so whether you're a beginner or a seasoned athlete, there’s a place for you.
Our sports teams compete in BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) leagues and cup competitions, with matches typically held on Wednesday afternoons — both home and away.

Team Christ Church Kit Guidelines
- All kits must be mainly Christ Church claret with blue trim.
- Kits must include the University Crest.
- Exceptions to the colour rule can be made for charity events, libero kits, away kits, and goalkeeper kits.

Getting Social
Every Wednesday after the matches, Team Christ Church comes together at The Lounge for Final Whistle, our weekly celebration of sport, teamwork, and community.
Each week, a different sports team hosts the event, bringing their own energy and flair. No matter the results on the pitch, court, or field, Final Whistle is all about coming together to celebrate the effort and spirit of our teams.
