This role is working therapeutically alongside a child/young person on one of our bereavement support weekends in a group setting. Ideally you will have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and be able to support children and young people in distress and remain calm.
You will be working therapeutically with your allocated child. You will have a group leader who will guide you through the structure of each day. There is also a program manager who will oversee and facilitate the whole weekend program.
You will also be expected to attend a debrief at the end of the weekend and also complete detailed documentation on the child/ young person you have been working with.
We are a children's bereavement charity called Holding On Letting Go and we cover the whole of Kent. We work therapeutically with bereaved children and also support their parent/carers. Our age range for children is 6-17 years.
You will be part of a friendly team and we provide free training, provide food and refreshments and pay your mileage (we ask all volunteers to have a driving licence and access to a vehicle). We will pay for you to have a DBS check.
We ask all volunteers to commit to atleast 6 days a year with us (this would be on either a Saturday or a Sunday). Our weekends are held at venues in Sittingbourne, Sevenoaks and Broadstairs. The hours would be 8.30am-16.30.
