Volunteering

To assist the Shepway Foodbank Manager, by working with others on the team to sort donated items (food, toiletries, household cleaning products, etc.) and assemble orders for distribution to the services the warehouse supports.

We know that crisis can strike anyone and we also understand how difficult it can be to ask for help. We are part of a nationwide network of Foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to people from the Folkestone & Hythe District who are referred to us in crisis.

Anyone can reach crisis point. We’re here to help.

Principle tasks:

• Weigh in and record origin and weight of all donated items
• Stock control including sorting donated itmes, storing in relevant sections, stock rotation
• Removing out of date stock, weighing out and placing in appropriate boxes for disposal
• Picking and assembling orders for distribution and weighing them out.
• Loading orders in can for delivery
• Maintain a tidy and safe working environment
• Carry out other reasonable tasks to support the Warehouse Manager as required.
