Volunteering

Loneliness affects many older people across Kent and Medway.
At You Matter Community Project CIC, we believe no older person should feel forgotten.

We are looking for compassionate students and community members to volunteer as Community Support Workers, helping to reduce social isolation and support older adults in our community.

📍 Location: Medway / Kent (Community-based)
🕒 Commitment: Flexible Part-time

What You’ll Be Doing (non-exhaustive):
• Provide companionship through home visits or telephone chats
• Support food bank voucher distribution and essential grocery shopping
• Accompany members to appointments and hospital visits
• Help set up and host social activities at the St Stephens' Church Hall  in Chatham
• Carry out friendly well-being check-ins with older members
• Provide basic digital support (phones, video calls, online services)
• Signpost members to relevant local services and community resources

• Assist with community events and outreach activities
Build positive relationships with our stakeholders and community partners. 

What We’re Looking For
• Enhanced DBS check (provided)
• Strong communication skills, empathy, and a proactive attitude

. Strong IT and photography skills
• Experience in care (helpful, but not essential), customer service, or as a family carer is welcomed
• Access to a vehicle is helpful, but confident use of public transport is also welcome
