If personal issues are affecting your ability to attend classes or complete your coursework, it’s important to let your course team know as soon as possible.

What you should do:

  1. Let your Course Team know

Speak to your Course Team or Personal Academic Tutor (PAT) about what’s going on. They’re there to support you.

  2. Submit an Exceptional Circumstances request

If your situation is serious and outside of your control (e.g. illness, bereavement, personal crisis), you may be eligible for support through the Exceptional Circumstances process.

Submit a request and view the policy and form

  3. Request longer-term support (TLA)

If your situation is ongoing and you need more time or adjustments, ask your course team or PAT about setting up a Temporary Learning Agreement (TLA). This can help you manage your studies more flexibly over a longer period.
