Student Trustee Application

Apply to be a student trustee and share your skills and lived student experience to effectively oversee our charity

Are you a student at Christ Church who can help us with your range of skills and lived student experience?

CCSU is a registered charity which is governed and led by a board of trustees. We are seeking five students to join our Board of Trustees, which is the ultimate authority that governs the charity and reflect both the ethic and student experience diversity we have at Christ Church.

You'll develop invaluable skills to increase your employability whilst ensuring students are represented at a trustee level.

Apply Now

If you would like to chat more about this then feel free to contact the Union President, on president@ccsu.co.uk. You can read more about the application process on this document.

Before you apply we strongly recommend you read more about the role of being a Trustee on the Charity Commission’s website.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the role you must be a current student of Canterbury Christ Church University.  In addition, you may be prohibited from being a charity trustee and company director if you have spent or unspent convictions of a certain nature as well as have previously been bankrupt.  Before application we advise that you review this Charity Commission Guidance.

If you have difficulty completing this form, or you have a disability which prevents you from completing the form, please contact the Communications Manager on email hannah.brazier@ccsu.co.uk

The Role

Trustees add value to the Board and the Union through generating ideas, challenging the status quo, broadening thinking and supporting and promoting innovation and creativity.

The term of a Student Trustees is for two years, however, when a Student Trustee ceases to be a student of the University they also cease to be a Trustee.

The Board of Trustees meets six times a year, usually for about four hours, but one of these meetings is usually a full development day.  The Union’s two major sub-committees are the same frequency but usually for two hours. A rough guide would be about 50 hours per annum for meetings and preparation time.

The role of Student Trustee is voluntary, but expenses for attendance at Board and sub-committees will be reimbursed.  These are travel, food, and childcare.
