Kent County Council Elections - 1st May 2025

Where are elections taking place?
The elections tomorrow are for Kent County Council, but not in the Medway Unitary Authority. If you live in Kent (excluding Medway), you are likely to be able to vote tomorrow - if you're registered.

Why vote in Local Elections
Okay, local elections don't sound like much fun, but those who are elected and their decisions do have a significant impact on lives and the services provided in the County. Kent County Council are responsible public transport, youth services, schools, and public health.

You have a voice and in local elections, that voice is actually louder than in general ones — because fewer people vote, your vote carries more weight!

Can I Vote?
Contrary to popular belief you don't need to be a British citizen to be able to vote in the UK. Several other citizenships and statuses can vote, mostly from commonwealth countries. To find out if you are eligible to vote head to canivote.org.uk and have your answer in less than 10 seconds.

At this point you will have needed to registered to vote - if you have done so then you may have received your 'poll card' in the post. You also will need a valid form of ID on voting day at the Polling Station (where you go to cast your vote). For example, a driver's licence or passport from a valid nation.

Who Do I Vote For?
You can find who is standing in your local area by putting your postcode at whocanivotefor.co.uk.
