Representation is what the Students' Union is all about; representing the student voice both collectively and individual voices which need to be heard.
Your voice is represented by elected officers. These are the student leaders or the volunteer officers.
Student Leaders
These full time officers are at the heart of what we do, elected by the student body to represent students.
- Overall representatives, speak on behalf of all 16,000 Christ Church students
- Elected yearly, full time, remunerated
- Exist according to the Education Act
- Campaign for change, give the Union direction
Union Representation Volunteers
These part-time positions (voluntary) are completed alongside studies and ensure current students are involved in all our decisions.
Union Council Officers
- Representatives of specific groups of students
- Elected yearly, volunteers, alongside degree
- Give direction to the Union
- Create policy
Union Societies Executive Committee (USEC)
- Leaders in delivering their society objectives
- Bring communities together
- Volunteer, fundraise for charity
- e.g. Presidents, Vice-Presidents, Social Secretaries
Christ Church Lions Executive Committee (CCLEC)
- Leaders in delivering their sports club objectives
- Bring communities together
- Compete for the University's name
- Volunteer, fundraise for charity
- e.g. Presidents, Vice-Presidents, Captains, Social Secretaries
Your Course Committee
- Give academic representatives a greater, central, voice and create a platform to share ideas and concerns
- Discuss and strive to implement ideas for academic improvement
- Attend by School Representatives, but all reps are welcome
Academic Representation Volunteers
These are also part-time voluntary postitions, held alongside studies, that form the academic representative structure that works with the SU and university to improve the student experience on a course, school and faculty level.
Course Representatives
- Represent students and act as their voice on a particular Course
- Attend Course level meetings: Student Voice Fora and Boards of Studies
- See examiner reports
- Help better the delivery of their Course
School Representatives
- Represent students at Your Course Committee meetings with the President (Academic Life)
- Normally elected from Course Representatives
- Support and coordinate communication with their Course Representatives
Faculty Representatives
- Represent students to the Faculty on Faculty Boards and University Committees and Working Groups which require Faculty representation
- Normally elected from Course and School Representatives
- Support and coordinate communication with their School Representatives
