Term time and Assessment / reassessment changes

Bonjour Bambinos',

So I am settling into my role more and more each day, and I am begining to have some great imput into different University committess. I have attended some very important meetings so I thought I would give you all an update.

Some very important changes are happening at Christ Church this September concerning term times and the way in which students are assessed and reassessed. These very important changes could have a significant impact upon your time here at University, so make sure you have understand all these changes in order to prevent any unnecessary mishaps.

CHANGE IS HAPPENING!

SEMESTERS

The academic year will be different for many as the University changes to a semester based system instead of the term system we have had previously. This basically means two terms. The first term will be September to the end of January, with a two week break at Christmas. Term 2 will be from February to May.

There are many benefits to the semester system as you can concentrate on fewer modules and it's a lot easier to manage your workload. Combined honours students will be taking 2 modules of 1 course and 1 module of the other each term.

It does, however, mean that you will need to get to grips with your modules quicker than previously in order to complete them in the semester.

ASSESSMENTS

Sorry but, your first formal assessments will be in January!

The assessment and reassessment procedure has changed for the in coming year, with a lot of changes for how you’re going to be assessed and the conditions for repeating a year and how your reassessments are graded. In addition, new students and existing students are on slightly different systems so please make sure you read up on how your course is operating this year!

A great benefit of the new system is that in your final year, if you need a reassessment for any of your module you’ll still be able to graduate with all your pals in september! :O xD
