NUS is vital to ensure our students voice is heard at a national level. NUS is a true political vessel that has not only stood up for your rights time and time again, but also gives a voice to those who may not have one. NUS has been at the forefront of social, political and global change for many years.
What has NUS done for us:
NUS has achieved a number of “wins” for students over recent years, which it has only been able to do through the legitimacy it gains from being the representative body for 7 million students. Things NUS has achieved for students include:
- 16-25 railcards
- Council tax exemption for students
- Postgraduate loans
- Student Discount cards (Totum) - So far in 2018/19 CCSU has generated £8,327 commission from TOTUM card sales.
- NUS has put the tenancy deposit scheme into the Housing bill.
A Union is only as strong as its members and its affiliations, every member has the ability to influence policy and decisions. So why be part of the 5% who aren’t affiliated, and make it even harder for our voices to be heard? Let’s stay with the majority and work together.
