It's okay to feel anxious but let's work together, keep talking, and get through this.

Coronavirus (Covid-19) will have already had a massive impact on the world and your lives and there’s no escaping that things are going to be a little different for the foreseeable future.

That can be a daunting thing to accept, and with all the news and information on TV and via social media who can blame anyone for feeling anxious, worried or even a bit scared? Students needing support should contact the Student Support Health and Wellbeing team on 01227 922675 or email studentwellbeing@canterbury.ac.uk.

Don’t worry, it’s not just you, but we’re now looking forward to how your Students’ Union can still be there for you. We don’t have all the answers yet, but we’re trying.

What’s happening?

For the latest and most up to date information please visit the CCCU Coronavirus Advice and Guidance pages. The latest Student Communication can be read here (updated 17 March 2020).

Your Students’ Union

Following on from University advice we will be shutting our offices from 18th March with staff to work from home.

We will continue to operate as many of our services as possible online and still want to hear from you through all of our usual channels, support you, and keep spirits up during these unfamiliar times. We’ll continue to update this web page, as well as our social media channels (@christchurchsu) as the situation becomes clearer.

Chat with us online

We are also looking at new ways to interact in this self-isolating world starting with the introduction of online chat on our ccsu.co.uk website. Simply pop to the website and there will be a chatbox for you to speak directly with SU staff and in most instances get immediate answers. We might not have all the answers but can hopefully point you in the right direction.

Let us know of issues you’re having, whether they’re academic or personal, but also let us know what you’re doing to remain calm, have fun, still keep in touch with friends, etc.

What next?

No one really knows what’s happening next, but it’s helpful to be kept in the loop, even if it’s just someone letting you know that there’s nothing new yet. Please follow our social media (@christchurchsu) for daily updates.

We’re also trying to look at the positive implications of remote working and the opportunities this could provide for us to reach, interact and engage with all our students. If you’re in a sports club or a society then we’re more than likely to see you on a regular basis but what about everyone else?

Yes, it’s a serious world out there but let’s try and get something positive from this experience.
