Two members of the Students' Union sabbatical team were out last light helping with the Canterbury Street Marshalls, a scheme to provide a visual and reassuring presence on busy student nights.
David Hannaway, Union President, and Phil Semmens, President (Education and Wellbeing) joined the team along with Right Guard Security, and the Canterbury Street Pastors.
The scheme is a partnership between the University of Kent, Canterbury Christ Church University, Kent Union, Christ Church Students’ Union, Kent Police, Canterbury City Council, the Residents’ Associations of north and south Canterbury and Right Guard Security.
The primary aims of the Street Marshal scheme is to safe-guard students as they migrate through designated areas of Canterbury and to build positive community relationships.
