EU Identity cards

Krum went on a mission to find out why EU ID cards weren't being accepted in Sainsbury's

Recently some of you let us know that Sainsbury’s in Canterbury wasn’t accepting the EU National Identity cards as proof of age. So your Students’ Union President, Krum Tashev went on a mission to find out why.

He made some enquiries and Sainsbury’s revealed that it is part of their policy to accept EU identity cards as valid proof of age and identity. The Canterbury store will make sure this policy is followed in future.

The National Identity card is issued by the governments of EU countries (apart from Denmark and the UK) to every citizen and is used as a form of identity for things such as proof of age, and in place of a passport enabling them to travel freely around the EU.

If you find that Sainsbury’s won’t accept your EU Identity card - or any other store then tell the Students’ Union (hello@ccsu.co.uk) or Krum (krum@ccsu.co.uk) and we’ll try our best to sort it!
