About Us

CCSU Kayaking Team is an open group of kayakers, all with differing abilities. We have weekly sessions where we alternate between paddling, playing kayak polo and developing skills.

Welcome to CCSU Kayaking (The Narwhals), we are a club passionate about kayaking and all abilities are welcome!

We run weekly pool sessions, where we teach people basic competency- including capsize and rescue drills supervised by a friendly qualified BCU coach, a lifeguard and an enthusiastic committee who are always open to new ideas and suggestions. Along with further skills that are developed to stop capsizes, and how to rescue yourself and others should you need it. Skill development is mostly done in the pool however, we also arrange trips to moving water and some whitewater.

This year we aim to take trips to Lee Valley Olympic White Water Centre, The River Dart and the National Student Rodeo.

The general idea being to give anyone a good base set of skills to follow their own aspirations further down the line, be those Kayak(canoe) Polo, Whitewater or Sea Kayaking, Playboating/Freestyle among many other disciplines!

All the necessary equipment will be provided for you including kayaks, paddles, spray decks, buoyancy aids, so all you need to do is bring yourself, swimming gear AND A TOWEL!
