Drop-in for some advice

There are a number of great new and existing drop-in services, run by professionals, that the Students' Union is delighted to offer our students. These drop-ins run throughout the year so please keep your eye out for when they are running.

Relationship Advice

Brand new this year and hosted by Rising Sun Charity; this drop-in service enables students the opportunity to talk confidentially about their relationship. Focusing on females aged 18-24 who may be experiencing fear, control, harassment or abuse in their relationship.

Drop in sessions run from 1-3pm on the last Monday of every month on the ground floor of Augustine House, no appointments needed.

Love Shouldn’t Hurt.

Hate Crime Hub

Brand new this year and hosted by the community liaison officer at Kent Police; this drop in service enables all students to talk confidentially about any issues they may be having within the community. The service also allows the opportunity for all students to learn more about hate crime and report a crime if they feel it is necessary.

Drop in sessions run from 3-5pm on the first Thursday of every month on the ground floor of Augustine House, no appointments needed.

Gender Identity Advice

Brand new this year for students, staff or members of the public who are transitioning or would like to talk about transgender issues.

This services was created to help students feel more at ease dealing with often confidential and highly sensitive areas. We hope you can make the most of these drop-ins if you ever feel the need to use them.

Drop in sessions are run by a trained Gender Psychologist supplied by the NHS. These sessions run every Wed 5-7pm in Fg08, Canterbury - starting on 23rd Nov.

There is also a Trans Support Group in Canterbury which runs from UKC on the 2nd and 4th Wed of the month from 7pm. Organiser: joy.everingham@methodist.org.uk

Sexual Health Clinic

Advice on all things sexual health, free condoms, chlamydia screening. All types of contraception (including emergency). Referrals if required.

Drop in sessions are run by NHS nurses. These sessions are on every Mon 9-12noon and Wed 9am-11.30am in the Mother and Baby Room in Laud corridor, Canterbury and also in Broadstairs on the first Mon of the month 11am-2pm in Cg13 the SU social room in Carey.
