6 Weeks In!

Biba Chuta

Hi Guys, I’m Biba Chuta, your newly elected President (Sports) this year!

So I’ve been in post for 6 weeks now and I can’t believe how quickly time has flown by. I’ve been a busy bee so here's an update on what I’ve been up to.

Sports Rebrand

To kick things off, I’ve rebranded Christ Church sport into ‘TEAM CHRIST CHURCH’. This has included creating a new logo and official brand for the Sports Clubs.

I’ve also created a new SOCIAL WEAR range (which should be ready to launch very soon so keep your eyes peeled!). I believe that it is important for our clubs to look unified and have a common Christ Church identity.

Committees

I have changed the regular Presidents and Captains Day at the beginning of the year to COMMITTEE TRAINING. This will allow more students to get involved and enhance leadership and employability skills whilst fully preparing committee for their roles in the upcoming year.

I have also created a committee GUIDEBOOK which will be issued to all Sports Clubs. This will include the essential information that they need to know in one place.

I have made further changes to the SPORTS EXEC (Sports Executive Committee) applications. This has included three compulsory charity events that they must collectively organise. Sports Clubs at Christ Church are fantastic at raising money for charity (£10,000 last year).  This year I want to further this and raise even more for a wider range of charities, working together across Sports Clubs and with the RaG Team to achieve this.

Playing

I have also restructured MEN’S FOOTBALL this year by changing last years 2nd and 3rd team over. By implementing this change it will provide a platform for the club to continue to develop and attract new members.

So VARSITY planning has started already! Working closely with the Kent Vice-President (Sports)  we have decided that the theme this year will be LGBT+. Working collaboratively with both universities our LGBT+ societies we are hoping to raise awareness and celebrate this liberation group within the sporting community.

Campaigns

One of the campaigns that I have been very excited to do this year is ‘THE F WORD’. This is about FEMINISM and educating others about what it means and why it's exists. By working closely with the Christ Church Feminist Society, we will look to to fight the negative stigma that is associated with it.

Working with the other lovely sabbs, one of our main aims this year is to raise the awareness of mental health. We will be working on different events throughout the year so make sure you get involved and join the cause!

Keep in Touch

So that’s it for now! Time to crack on with last minute freshers planning and preparing for a very exciting freshers week! Thanks for taking the time to give this a read!
